Community Groups are gatherings of 8 or more people primarily from the same geographical area meeting in homes on a weekly basis.
Gathering in homes for the purpose of growing in relationship with God and others is nothing new. Consider the following New Testament passages:
-
Please give my greetings to the church that meets in their home. Romans 16:5
-
To Philemon our beloved brother and fellow worker...to the church that meets in your home. Philemon 1:1-2
-
They joined with the other believers and devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, sharing in the Lord’s Supper and in prayer...And all the believers met together constantly and shared everything they had. They sold their possessions and shared the proceeds with those in need. They worshiped together... met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity. Acts 2:42-46
We were created to be in relationship with God and others. Community Groups provide an opportunity to be known, cared for, encouraged, and held accountable in the Christian life. In a Community Group people are nurtured, equipped, and released for God's work in the world.
Community Groups provide opportunities for practical love and service, learning about the Christian faith, and sharing of what we see God doing in our midst. In short, Community Groups are basic Christian communities where discipleship, fellowship, and evangelism are best carried out.
If you are new to Columbia Crossroads Northeast we would like to invite you to a Taste of Community.
