I have just started to do my home assignments in the Gospel in Life. (A discipleship study our church is involved in) Wow! What can I say? It is rich, deep, and thought provoking. This is not something you can do a half-hour before community group. Trust me!
Having said that, you may be tempted to stay away if you don’t do the book. DON’T! Not everyone is ready for such a meaty study! If however, you think you are ready, but feel strapped for time, let me challenge you.
If you are like me, and I am sure you are, you are busy at work, at home, with the kids, traveling, and the like. It is easy to say we don’t have time for personal or group Bible study; that we don’t have an hour a week to dedicate ourselves to learning more about what it means to live out the Gospel in Life, but the truth is, most of us have the time, it is just a matter of priorities and being intentional about it. I think if we count the hours we spend watching TV, reading novels, going to the movies or sporting events, we would find we really don’t have a shortage of time.
Lets face it. Bible study takes desire, commitment, and dedication. The knowledge of God and self does not come any other way. This study is going to stretch us. Really stretch us.
My prayer for us is that we will be willing to roll up our sleeves and do the best we can, regardless of how much or how little we actually do.
May God bless us all, as we seek to honor Him.
In His Mighty Grip,
Paul
