Asking Why

I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my guardpost. There I will wait to see what the Lord says and how he will answer my complaint.  (Habakkuk 2:1)

Not long ago, a woman who had lost a child told me, “Greg, all I can ask is, ‘Why? Why?’ ” Then she said, “Is it wrong to ask why?”

Refuse to Listen to Your Fears

“And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us.” (2 Corinthians 1:10 NLT, 2nd edition)

God is watching over you, so don’t listen to your fears. This is a choice. Trust God, and don’t give in to your fears.

2012: A Gift of Time from God

“But make sure that you don't get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations                                                           that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God.” (Romans 13:11 MSG)

Don’t Miss Christmas!

“Joy to the world! The Lord is come. Let earth receive her King. Let ev’ry heart prepare Him room.” —Joy to the World

Joy To The World

Joy to the World, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King.

Isaac Watts wrote ""Joy to the World" in 1719. Since then, every Christmas season, carolers cast those words into the air like a lifeline out into the ocean of humanity. And every ""fish" surely finds something inviting and worth nibbling at. The thrill of hope within the message spools out to touch a weary world with anticipation of tasting something really good!

Church, R U Ready to get Stretched?

I have just started to do my home assignments in the Gospel in Life. (A discipleship study our church is involved in) Wow! What can I say? It is rich, deep, and thought provoking. This is not something you can do a half-hour before community group. Trust me!

Hearing and Doing

Ja 1:22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; 24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. 25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.

I believe; help my unbelief!

I was in Mark 9 a little over a week ago, and was reminded that even in my times of doubt, God's hands are not tied. A father had a son who was tormented by an evil spirit and he came to Jesus for help. His faith, like like mine was imperfect. Jesus told him all things are possible to those who believe. I love the Fathers response, “I do believe; help my unbelief.”

Characteristics of a Missional Church - Part 5

This week’s characteristic of a missional, gospel community, is: the priesthood of all believers. Look for more characteristics in future blogs.

1Pe 2:9 But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
