Baptism is one of two sacraments1 instituted by Jesus Christ. In the ordinance of baptism, water is used to symbolize washing and cleansing. The word itself means to immerse or dip under. [Mt 3:16; Joh 3:23; Ac 8:38,39]
The Church is commissioned to baptize all who would follow Christ. [Mt 28:19]
At CCNE, we believe that baptism follows conversion and a commitment to follow Christ. [Mt 3:6; Mk 16:16; Ac 8:12,13,36,37; 10:47,48] It is an outward act that publically acknowledges an inward transformation brought about by Jesus Christ. It also serves as an initiation into the Body of Christ, which is the Church.
Anyone wishing to identify with Christ though the sacrament of baptism is encouraged to call the church office or indicate this on the CCNE Connection card.
